We deeply believe in our role as a Corporate Citizen and our responsibility to the community. To demonstrate our commitment to this belief, we have initiated a 2-prong approach in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The first is by carrying out our business and operations in a responsible manner and the second is by contributing directly to the community at large.

Under the first approach, our construction operations have been certified “Excellent” under BCA’s “Green & Gracious Builder” Scheme – a scheme aimed to raise the environmental awareness and professionalism of builders in Singapore. Where possible we:

■ reduce, re-use and recycle construction and office materials
■ use environmentally-friendly products
■ maintain environmentally-friendly practices
■ design our buildings to be energy efficient
■ maintain good communications with the public around our worksites
■ minimize inconvenience and disruption to the public caused by our operations

Under the second approach, we have been making donations to various organisations over the years such as:

■ Temples
■ Lions Home for the Elders
■ Resident Committees (RC)
■ Community Centres (CC)
■ National Day Parade
■ Metta Welfare Association
■ Handicap Welfare Association (HWA)
■ Breast Cancer Foundation
■ ChildAid (which supports The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund)
■ schools in Malaysia & China (as we also operate in these countries)

Complementing the above corporate-level contributions, our Social & Recreation Committee (SRC) organises our own community outreach activities at the staff level every year such as fundraisers that help provide the needy and elderly with daily necessities such as rice, oil and other food items. We strongly encourage our staff and their families to participate in these activities not just by making donations but to get directly involved in the actual activity itself (eg. assisting in the delivery of the food hampers) in the hope that it will inculcate a sense of compassion towards the less fortunate and also to help them to appreciate what they have.

Finally, on the educational front, Teambuild has been contributing to BCA’s Built Environment Scholarship every year. This scholarship is the joint effort of the BCA and the industry’s leading players to help shape and mould the industry leaders of the future by providing aspiring young people of high caliber an opportunity to embark on a challenging and rewarding career in the construction and development industry.
